OCTOBER 19 2026 - Hello and welcome to Mark's Chickens. In the coming weeks ahead I hope to fill this out with news and information about one of my favorite things in the whole world.... not not guitars, it's chickens. You've seen them on TV, probably eaten some of them (ewwww, I mean oooh that's ok).
Seriously, these little bird brains are super interesting pets that love you and reward you with eggs too. They're not at all like dogs or parrots or parakeets. Chickens can be independent or super sweet.... kind of like some humans I know. Chickens usually put themselves to bed in the evening (a few stubborn ones need a little help getting tucked in).
There are lots of different breeds of chickens and the breed really makes a difference how their temperament manifests. Another factor is how they were treated when they were very young. Chickens that were abused or mishandled when they were tiny grow up with high-strung personalities.
Where you get your chickens can really make a big difference in your success at raising them.
